Main man Donald Glover has just released a mixtape, EP AND video, which ventures down the same rabbit hole as Because the Internet. After a near death experience, The Boy begins to question everything, his friends, his life, and his relevance in the world.Īnd it doesn’t stop there. The screenplay, if you haven’t read already follows a main character simply referred to as The Boy a young, apathetic man born into wealth who’s profession is internet trolling.
With an accompanying screenplay script and preluding short film Clapping for the Wrong Reasons, Gambino opened up a world for his fans to fall into.īut what is this world he wants us to see? What is he telling us? And goddammit what the hell is Roscoe’s Wetsuit? Last year the self-proclaimed (and rightly so) mastermind released his sophomore album Because the Internet – but it was more than just music. If the last few weeks are anything to go by, 2014 is the year of rapper/producer/comedian/world dominator Donald Glover, who I’m now convinced is actually an alien, and not just because of the Telegraph Ave video.
